Intercessory Prayer Initiative PRAYER ALERT – 3/6/08 Dear Prayer Warriors, Super Tuesday just passed and the results are in with Senator McCain becoming the Republican candidate for president and Senators Obama and Clinton heavily engaged in contending for their party’s nomination. Several prophets indicate that whoever is chosen as a running mate and becomes vice-president will have a pivotal role in the next administration. During one of our recent prayer meetings there came the call to war and the battle cry, “The sword of the Lord and of Gideon” (see Judges 7:18). As in Gideon’s day, God is looking for those who will not fear but be steadfast, tune in to His strategy and obey His commands for victory. As the battle intensifies we must pray that God will have His way in the upcoming elections. Prayer Points Pray for a stirring of God’s people to sound the battle cry and contend for the foundations of righteousness to be exalted in the land (Proverbs 14:34). Pray that God would send confusion into the camp of His enemies (Psalm 68:1-3). Pray that God would reveal prayer strategies to confound the enemy (Psalm 60:12). Pray that God would release warring angels to help us defeat the enemy in our nation through this election (Joshua 5:13-15). Oprah Winfrey is probably the most respected, influential and wealthiest celebrity of our time and her endorsements ensure success. Oprah endorses and offers daily lessons on her radio program based on Marianne Williamson’s “Course in Miracles” which presents a “new Christ.” She also highly recommends a book entitled, “A New Earth” by spiritual teacher, Eckart Tolle. The book is said to “awaken you to your life’s purpose.” She believes that its “truth” will change your life and is presenting it daily through her website. Millions are responding to her efforts. Prayer Points Pray that the Holy Spirit would draw those sincerely seeking truth in these books to God’s Word where He can reveal the Truth that really sets them free (John 14:6). Pray that the church would so embody the Love of Christ that many will be drawn to Him, be reconciled to God and find their true life’s purpose (2 Cor. 5:14-18). Pray that the church will heed the mandate for this generation to “set the captives free,” make disciples and establish them in the faith (Matt. 28:18-20). Pray that the church will not be seduced or swayed, as Paul said, by “enticing words of man’s wisdom” but will know “the demonstration of the Spirit and of power” (see 1 Cor. 2:4).
