Intercessory Prayer Initiative
PRAYER ALERT - 11/10/2009
Dear Prayer Warriors:
Thursday, 11/5, a lone gunman, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, opened fire on fellow soldiers and civilians at Ft. Hood, Texas, killing 1 civilian, 12 soldiers and wounding 30 others. Speculation behind his motive ranges from anger at being deployed to Iraq, his Muslim faith and conviction against the war, to emotional distress due to his role as an Army psychiatrist. Whatever the motive, the rampage brought tremendous pain and tragedy to soldiers and their families on our own soil.
Friday, 11/6, a gunman opened fire in an office building in downtown Orlando, killing 1, and wounding 5, 4 of which are in trauma. The gunman was later apprehended at his mother’s house.
Prayer Points
- Pray for the healing of the wounded and comfort for the families in their losses.
- For the continued protection of Fort Hood and other military installations.
- That President Obama would have wisdom to make the best decisions concerning our troops and their presence in the Middle East.
- For the interception of any other planned attacks against our military, borders, water supply, transportation routes, cities, schools, colleges and businesses.
Jesus promised that the “gates of hell” would not prevail against His church (Matt. 16:18) and gave us the keys to the kingdom of heaven. We need to use those keys to bind and loose what is necessary to expand His kingdom on earth. He also said that if two of us agree on anything we ask, it shall be done (see Matt. 18:19).
Prayer Points
- Pray that God will raise up leaders that focus on His agenda and not their own.
- Pray for a spirit of repentance to come upon the church and purge it of all unrighteousness and self-serving, and that the Holy Spirit would have His way.
- That God would send more laborers into His harvest fields to spread His love through evangelism, healing, provision and training.
- That the church would unite in focused prayer that binds the powers of darkness and looses righteousness in our land.
- Pray for the persecuted church and the release of finances and provision.
Bridges for Peace reports that according to an IDF press release, Tuesday, November 3, the Israel Navy Special Forces intercepted a civilian cargo vessel with an “exceptionally large quantity” of weapons, missiles, and rockets sent from Iran and bound for Hezbollah in Lebanon. Iran uses these civilian vessels as a means of transporting weapons to terrorist organizations. In addition, Hamas now has new rockets capable of penetrating Tel-Aviv.
Prayer Points
- Pray for the peace of Jerusalem as directed in Psalm 122:6.
- Pray that the IDF may continue to intercept other shipments of weapons that are intended for use against Israel.
- That the rockets Hamas now has will never be used against Israel.
- Continue to pray that our nation will stand in support of God’s agenda for Israel.
